Counseling

Counseling has been a part-time volunteer staffed service offered at Christ Clinic for many years. Now, thanks to a very generous grant from Holy Family Hospital, Christ Clinic has been able to hire a full time mental health provider.  In March of 2004, Jennifer Purcell, a psychiatric nurse practitioner began seeing patients at Christ Clinic.

The intent of our counseling service is to enhance the existing medical care provided by the primary care staff and volunteers.  Counseling at Christ Clinic will focus on assisting and encouraging individuals to accept responsibility for their actions and behaviors, examine how these actions and behaviors are affecting their life, and exploring what lifestyle changes they are willing to consider to try to improve their quality of life.  As is consistent with Christ Clinic’s mission statement, counseling is approached with attempts to encourage individuals to develop and strengthen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

In addition to counseling, Jennifer can prescribe medications to address psychiatric illnesses if indicated.  In order to receive mental health services at Christ Clinic, individuals must be receiving their primary care services at the clinic as well.

For appointments, please call 509-325-0393. A new patient must also be scheduled to see a primary care provider at Christ Clinic.
